  • Whether you are new to the area or a longtime resident, the Dubuque Welcome Center is the perfect start to discovering Iowa's oldest city. Let the hiking/biking trails, beautiful parks, and historic sites tell the rich history of Iowa's first city. • There are so many wonderful pumpkin patches to visit, depending upon the age of your kids. I like to take my kids to a few of them because they all offer something unique. My boys love this pumpkin patch because of the pumpkin cannon and corn maze.
  • I send my kids to Seton Catholic School. We moved here from Geneva, IL and lived in Gilbert, AZ prior to that. Relocating kids to a new area is always a challenge. But at Seton, they gave my kids a warm welcome and helped us feel like we were part of the community. The kids were at Holy Cross Catholic in Batavia, IL prior to Seton, but even being new to the school, they were included from the start by the other kids.

This MIME performance always brings me to tears. I have attended it 3 years in a row, and I think it is a beautiful depiction of the Jesus' crucifixion and sacrifice.
  • My teenager and his friends love going out on the river during the summer! They take the boat out and do a lot of skiing, wakeboarding, kayaking, and camping...you name it! Sitting around the campfire at night- making s'mores and making each other laugh- that is what a great summer night looks like for a teenager in Dubuque!

The Dubuque Dragon Boat Association held their annual Dubuque Dragon Boat Festival this weekend. My son-in-law participated this year. It is another great event that draws many local residents and tourists to participate or to just watch. My husband and I went there yesterday afternoon and will go again today to watch.

This paddle wheel boat is called the Spirit of Dubuque. This is a nice way to spend a couple of hours on the river. It is especially wonderful to ride in the fall when the leaves on the trees are so beautiful. We like to do this at least once every year.

Each year the local business owners sponsor a sidewalk chalk contest. Usually a professional artist displays his work. I take my granddaughter to it each year. Today my husband and I took our nine year old granddaughter and three of her friends to see the art. Then we had to have an ice cream cone.

Murphy Park is a nice quiet park that is enjoyed year around by my family and many others. In the spring, summer, and fall it is a great place to just visit or have a picnic. In the winter months the Dubuque Jaycees sponsor an amazing lighted Christmas display. Hundred of cars go through this during the display.

Enjoy the beautiful scenery and spectacular Mississippi River view from Eagle Point Park, Dubuque, IA. It's a great place to watch the barges go through the lock and dam. You can also rent pavilions for a family get together, weddings and picnics. I really enjoy the view from the park.

My son and I enjoy snow skiing at Sundown Mountain Resort. It is located just west of Dubuque. It has runs for all skill levels of skiers and snow boarders. Sundown Mountain offers plenty of snowy fun for all ages.
