Lincoln Area Insight

  • South Lincoln offers endless opportunities for all different lifestyles! There are shopping centers, gyms, and restaurants galore. Residents enjoy beautiful well-maintained neighborhoods and it is only a short drive to country living!
  • We have 48 Little Free Libraries scattered throughout the lovely neighborhoods of Lincoln, and more on the way! What a fun, simple, and free adventure! While on a break from work, just wandering about town, on a date, or looking for something different to do with the family, there is always something new to see. I've had the chance to talk to many owners who are just thrilled to provide a little spot for people to relax and read to their heart's content. It's a "take a book, return a book" atmosphere where all are welcome to share their favorite literature. I plan on having a photo of every one of our Little Free Libraries, and here are some websites to learn more!
Lincoln's Little Free Libraries on Facebook - here they have an interactive map, updated information on events and new libraries in Lincoln. To learn more about this global sensation you can also go to LittleFreeLibrary.org.

    Lincoln, NE
Growing up in Lincoln was a classic example of Midwest lifestyle in the 1950-60s. There were communities like Havelock, University Place, Belmont, and Rathbone Village just to name a few. These areas were more like small towns that you didn't venture out of as much, as kids then traveled almost exclusively by their bikes. Or a big excursion was taking the bus downtown to watch a movie. It is so exciting to watch the downtown now blossoming with new hotels, the Arena, and all the new restaurants popping up. I met my wife of now 40 years at the Snowflake Ball at the downtown YWCA, and have loved growing up in Lincoln, Nebraska.
  • City parks with swim facilities can be found throughout Lincoln. They provide a great way to beat the summer heat at a fair price. But if you are looking for a structured activity for your students during summer break, Lincoln Parks and Recreation also offers a competitive swim and dive league. It's a great program to start and grow with through the years. Our daughter was an Irving Frog in the city league for six years and it gave her great confidence and skill with aquatics.
  • Going outside in the dead of winter may not sound like a lot of fun, but sledding at Pioneers Park is one of my favorite things to do. To find out more about Pioneers or the many other parks in Lincoln, click the link below!
  • I recently joined Anytime Fitness here in Lincoln so that I could whip myself back into shape again. Like most cities, Lincoln has no shortage of fitness gyms. I personally chose Anytime Fitness because of the three locations in Lincoln, two of them are within a block from each of my office locations. Plus, the 70th & Pioneers location has individual shower/changing rooms which makes it very convenient for me. Yet another convenient feature is that Anytime Fitness gyms are located all over the United States and since I am a member here in Lincoln, I have access to ALL Anytime Fitness locations in the U.S. Most importantly, the facilities here in Lincoln are very nice and offer a large variety of equipment. So no matter what you prefer in terms of working out, you'll find the necessary equipment at Anytime Fitness in Lincoln.
