Chill on the Hill, a great social gathering will have it's second event for the summer schedule this Friday night from 6:00-9:00 p.m. This weeks band is Gimikk. Cost for admission is $10 and includes one drink ticket. This is a great event for socializing and networking with area residents with the beautiful Copper Creek Lake as the backdrop. We had a wonderful holiday night while visiting The Shores at Pleasant Hill senior living facility at 1500 Edgewater Drive. Fantastic families showed up with children to help bring caroling, crafts, and treats to the seniors at The Shores at Pleasant Hill. It was such a fabulous event. We look forward to doing it again this year!

Tucked back into the trees on the southwestern side of Pleasant Hill you will find Doanes Park. It is the city's oldest and probably largest park with lots to offer. Several unique features draw residents to this edge of town area. A Youth Center features a 200-person air conditioned room for large events which can be rented. Numerous baseball and softball fields host city leagues and can be rented for use as well. Newer playground equipment, basketball courts, tennis courts and a shelter for picnics or small events are also on site. You will even find a gazebo and several swinging benches to enjoy if you want to sit and relax. A very peaceful place to enjoy nature within the city limits of Pleasant Hill.

After having been overlooked for many years, this community is quickly being recognized as the premier location to access Metro Area amenities while enjoying the comfort, convenience and affordability of small town Iowa. I highly recommend taking a serious look at this progressive community. Local area attractions include Copper Creek Lake, Copper Creek Golf Course, numerous parks, hike/bike trails, Sleepy Hollow Sports Complex, theater, library and Adventureland Amusement and Water Park. All this plus a five year graduated tax abatement should put this community at the top of your list.

If you're moving to Des Moines from a small community, it may feel overwhelming. Pleasant Hill is a hidden gem just minutes east of Des Moines. The attributes that make this town perfect for raising a family are numerous. Let's start with the easy commute to anywhere in the metro, such as : ten minutes to downtown, 15 minutes to Ankeny, five minutes from Altoona, 20 minutes from West Des Moines, and 30 minutes to Ames. On top of being well located, there is a state park (my personal favorite), pond, sporting facilities, bowling alley, and much more to get the kids off the computer. You will realize very quickly driving around the town that there's no strangers. It's likely you'll see people waving at you while driving by. It's the small town feel right in the middle of everything the Des Moines metro offers.
