Growing up in Lincoln was a classic example of Midwest lifestyle in the 1950-60s. There were communities like Havelock, University Place, Belmont, and Rathbone Village just to name a few. These areas were more like small towns that you didn't venture out of as much, as kids then traveled almost exclusively by their bikes. Or a big excursion was taking the bus downtown to watch a movie. It is so exciting to watch the downtown now blossoming with new hotels, the Arena, and all the new restaurants popping up. I met my wife of now 40 years at the Snowflake Ball at the downtown YWCA, and have loved growing up in Lincoln, Nebraska.
