In honor of those who served our country, I wanted to post this on Veterans Day and a picture of the Veterans Memorial Garden located in Lincoln's historic Antelope Park at 3200 Veteran's Memorial Drive. There are more than 20 memorials to remember the sacrifices our veterans have made for our freedom. If interested there are events throughout the year that anyone can attend, or just a visit and a walk.

This cute, updated, locally-owned store offers a convenient one-stop shop where you can find everything you need from milk, bread, and eggs to many more items. It is a "friendly service and great prices" store. I love to shop there, not just because it's close to my home or because of what it has to offer, but because it's a local store and keeps money in our town. Leon's is also next door to Cooper & CO. This home decor and gift store is a must-stop if you're shopping at Leon's. They offer so many things for your home and or gifts for almost any occasion.

This lovely neighborhood in Antelope Park was originally owned by J.C. Seacrest, the former editor of the Lincoln Journal. Seacrest donated the land to the city, which became Antelope Park. Seacrest also parceled out the one acre lots backing to Memorial Drive to local attorneys in the 1950's, who then built all of the custom built homes you see in the neighborhood. The most unique architecture of Lincoln can all be found along this drive. The large trees planted throughout this tract of land were all planted in honor of WWI veterans. Plaques honoring their lives can be found at the base of each tree.

The Lincoln community is so fortunate to have such a wonderful zoo. Parents and grandparents alike love the entertainment the zoo has to offer children of all ages. The variety of animals and activities keep the zoo on any kids to do list. The zoo also offers summer camps and every Halloween kids look forward to "Boo at the Zoo"!
  • I lived in this area for my first eight years in Lincoln. On summer days, I loved hearing the sounds of the Lincoln Children's Zoo animals and the horn of the kid's train. The bike path is really convenient in this neighborhood. I could easily bike downtown quickly and I am not the best biker around. Our family enjoyed our quick walks to parks, the children's zoo, Ager's play center and the Sunken Gardens.
  • I have lived in and around this neighborhood for most of my 17 years in Lincoln. The architecture of the neighborhood features a wide variety of styles and local shops are peppered throughout. The long chain of green space that follows Antelope Creek provides a great getaway within the city of Lincoln. Large play spaces, fountains, gardens, and The Lincoln Zoo can be found within the park. Some of Lincoln's walking/biking trail system goes through this park. The Billy Wolff Trail, which takes you to Holmes Lake Park and beyond, splits off from the Rock Island Trail, which mainly heads south through the Sheridan and Southwood neighborhoods.
